GCCC Art Club to host affordable art sale

Mercer Gallery at Garden City Community College will host the GCCC Art Club’s Affordable Art Sale from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. This event is free and open to the public, providing an opportunity for community members to support local artists while purchasing unique, affordable pieces of art.

Many people who visit us at the Finney County Historical Museum have an appreciation for antiques and additional items that represent the past, so we’re offering an opportunity soon to view some of the artifacts that we don’t often put on display, as well as to possibly win one of 10 collectible objects that have been donated to help us raise museum support funds.

ASKING ERIC: Friend complains about politics but does nothing

Dear Eric: I have a friend who I’ve been friends with for about 10 years. We both share views that lean left. In the past we’ve shared many dinners discussing the inequities of our country and other political type topics. My friend is constantly lamenting about how unfair our society is and is super empathetic to the plight of the disadvantaged, which I understand.
