Phi Sigma Alpha
Phi Sigma Alpha sorority met recently at the home of Joanne Harder with 10 members present. Hazel Jones served as co-hostess as the members met at 6 p.m. for a Christmas dinner prepared by her and Harder. After dinner, the group was entertained by the Garden City High School four-member men’s choir.
The story of Christ’s birth was read by Norma Nolte. Christmas hymns were sang, with Marilyn Wadel playing the piano. Dessert was served with coffee and tea along with fellowship.
Christmas gifts were exchanged by secret sisters with much fun and laughter. The evening ended with well wishes for a Merry Christmas.
The members also brought food items to be taken to Emmaus House.
The next meeting will be at Carlene Schweer’s home.
Stipp Rapp won high in the three tables of senior center double pinochle played Monday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Bob Ellis took second place. Third went to Jeanette Taylor.
Sherlock Strivers 4-H
Sherlock Strivers 4-H Club met Dec. 7 at Holcomb Elementary School, with 19 members answering roll call by telling what they want for Christmas. Seven adults were present.
Under old business, the club discussed donations for a family in need. Medals from the recent 4-H Achievement Banquet were handed out.
New business included the 4-H Honor Flight Fundraiser on Jan. 17 and 4-H Club Days on Feb. 21. Colt Hurley did a project talk on how he made a pair of cowboy chaps. Morgan Hammond demonstrated the many ways to wear and tie a scarf. Regan Roth gave a talk on “Parliamentary Procedure.”
December birthdays were celebrated.
The club plans to go bowling during the meeting Sunday.
