Dorothy Rios, 61, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at her home in Garden City.
She was born May 8, 1953, in Clovis, N.M. to Gilberto Lucero Sr. and Pauline Lopez Lucero. She moved to Garden City in the early 1970s. She worked at Coffee Annís and as a custodian at Kenneth Henderson Middle School for more than 15 years.
She enjoyed hosting cookouts, gardening, shopping, decorating and spending time with her grandchildren and beloved doggie, Renesmee.
She married Tony G. Rios on Aug. 4, 1973, in Garden City. He survives.
Other survivors include, her mother Pauline of Albuquerque, N.M.; children, Anthony, Alice, Paul and Audra Rios all of Garden City, Peggy Rivera and husband Hugo of Garden City, and Ricky and wife Kala Rios of Holcomb; 13 brothers and sisters; and 23 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gilberto; and her sisters, Esther Flores, Ruth Lucero and Josie Lucero.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m today, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
Rosary is 7 p.m. Friday and funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial follows in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
