Garden City Alternate Education Center Principal Mark Ronn has cleared his calendar for Wednesday, the day he will be found reading all day on the school's roof top, from the ringing of the first bell until the last bell rings for the day, as part of the Read Your Heart Out Principal Challenge.

As part of the Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program's National young Readers Week celebration, one school principal will win 100 copies for their library of the eighth book in the Wimpy Kid series, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck" which was released on Tuesday.

Mr. Ronn said the effort will take a bit of endurance, but the endeavor is worth it.

"When you consider the positive impact that literacy has on the lifetime of our students and how they will use this skill to make them ready for college and a career, it is enormous," he said. "I know our students and staff will be my biggest supporters."

The annual event was co-founded by Pizza Hut and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.

BOOK IT! Is the longest-running corporate-supported reading incentive program in the country and was launched by Pizza Hut in 1985.
