A five-run third inning by the Alpine Cowboys doomed the Garden City Wind to a 6-2 setback Monday night at Clint Lightner Stadium.

The loss continued the recent struggles of the Wind after it had been on an early June hot streak.

The Wind now finds itself with a 12-20 record after the latest setback.

Mason Mayberry pitched the first six innings and took the loss for the Wind. Despite out-hitting the Cowboys 9-7, the Wind was frustrated by stranding 15 runners on the base paths.

Joey Cecere, Gavin Lavallee and Mike Rachun each had two hits.

The same teams face off again Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
