Teresa May Nightengale

Ingalls – Teresa May Nightengale, 62, passed away July 9, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 9, 1960 in Garden City, the daughter of Elmer and Dorothy (Davis) Kreutzer.

Teresa spent her childhood in Garden City, attending elementary and high school there. While in high school, she also took classes at Garden City Community College. On November 30, 1984, Teresa was united in marriage to Vern Nightengale. The couple lived in Garden City briefly before moving to the family farm to make their home. To this union two children were born, Corey and Vanessa.

Teresa loved being able to stay at home and care for her family. She often planted a large garden and enjoyed being able to provide for her family. Teresa also helped a great deal on the farm with mowing and any other chores that needed to be done. She had a love of animals, especially cats. Teresa would often donate toys and food to the humane society.

Family was important to Teresa. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. They remember her singing to them. She was always available to help out any of her family when they needed it.

Those left to cherish the memories are her husband, Vern of Ingalls; two children, Corey Nightengale and wife, Ashley of Plover, Wisconsin and Vanessa Hahn and husband Jerry of Garden City; three grandchildren, Lynzie Nightengale and Kaleb Nightengale both of Plover, Wisconsin and Kennidy Hahn of Garden City; a brother, Richard Kreutzer and wife Celeste of Luka, Mississippi; brothers-in-law, John D Nightengale and wife Lennetta of Phoenix, Arizona, Donald Nightengale of Arcadia, and Charles Koehn of Bradley, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Karen Kreutzer of Aurora, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Rod Kreutzer; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Koehn; and nephew, Jonathan Koehn.

Funeral service will be held at Salem Mennonite Church, Copeland on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Salem Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Salem Mennonite Church, Hospice of the Prairie, or Finney County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
