Ulysses 50

At Ulysses, the visiting Goodland Cowgirls defeated the Ulysses Lady Tigers 62-50.

The Cowgirls were up by five points at the end of the first period before the Lady Tigers battled back and cut into the deficit until the Cowgirls only led by one heading into halftime.

After halftime the Cowgirls exploded for a 20-point period while holding the Lady Tigers to eight points.

The Lady Tigers’ Carolina Gallegos exploded for a game-high 19 points, while teammate Jessi Arnold added another 11 points for the pair to be the only Ulysses players in double-digit scoring.

Satanta 51

At Sublette, the Sublette Lady Larks ran away with the home game against the Haskell County rival Satanta’s Lady Indians, 74-51.

The Lady Larks took an early four point lead at the end of the first period, but the Lady Indians took the lead in the second period to head into halftime up by one, 30-29.

After intermission the Lady Larks put the pedal to the medal offensively as they scored more than 21 points in each of the final two periods while holding the Lady Indians to less than 14 points in each period.

Payton Whaler was the leading scorer for the victorious Lady Larks with 24 points. Teammates Alexis Ornelas and Brooke Briggs rounded out the top three scorers with 18 and 10 points, respectively.

Satanta’s Valerie Caro led the game in scoring with 25 points while sister Vanessa added another 19 to be the only Lady Indians in double-digit scoring.

At Tribune, the Greeley County Lady Jackrabbits fell to the visiting Quinter Lady Bulldogs 52-26, doubling the Lady Jackrabbits offensive output.

The Lady Bulldogs led early, by 13 points at the end of the first which they pushed to 22 points by halftime. The Lady Bulldogs defense held the Lady Jackrabbits offense to only three points by halftime to lead 25-3.

The Lady Jackrabbits were able to put something together offensively in the second half as they scored more than 10 points in each of their final two periods but that wasn’t enough as the Lady Bulldogs scored at least 10 points in every quarter.

Kylie Crist from Quinter led all scorers with 20 points, while Holly Myers led Greeley County in scoring with eight points.

Meade 69, Wichita Co. 22

Jaclyn Stapleton led the Meade Lady Buffaloes to a big win over Wichita County 69-22 with her game-high 21 points. Bailey Olvera added 18 points for the Lady Buffs while Nikki Friesen had 11 points and one 3-pointer.

Wichita County’s Erikca Hermosillo hit six points for the Lady Indians. Gladys Martinez scored four points.
