At Liberal, the Longhorns came away with a win on their home court as they edged the Liberal Redskins, 73-64, with Trey Sleep leading the charge from the floor for both teams with 22 points.

At the end of the first period, the Longhorns were up by three with a strong period by Sleep, who had nine points. The Redskins battled back and had a strong second period in which they scored 22 points to go into halftime up by four, 36-32. But Holcomb completed the comeback with two big 20-point efforts in each of the last two periods.

Dalton Gottschalk and Conner Vancleave joined Sleep in the double-digit scoring category with 16 and 11 points, respectively. Mershek Wiltshire led the Redskins in scoring with 15 points, while teammates Hayden Coker and Cade Hinkle rounded out the top three with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

At Meade, the Buffaloes defeated the Elkhart Wildcats, 55-44, behind the scoring of Tristin Lewis, who had a game-high 27 points.

The Buffaloes were down at the end of the first period by three points, 12-9, then cut the lead to go into halftime only down by two, 21-19. From there on out, the Buffaloes outscored the Wildcats by 13 points to pull out the win.

Landon Bird joined Lewis in double-digit scoring for the Buffaloes with 11 points.

Tyler Sklenar paced the Wildcats with 11 points. Wesley Higgins was the only other Wildcat in double digits with 10 points.

Southwestern Heights 66, Lakin 64

In Kismet, senior Cody Johnsrud and junior Jorge Dela Torre combined for 39 points to lead the Mustangs to a 66-64 overtime victory against the Lakin Broncs on Friday night.

Johnsrud scored 21 points on 9-of-20 shooting, while Dela Torre had 18 on 8-of-16 shooting.

The Mustangs took a seven-point lead into halftime before the Broncs ralled with and 18-point third quarter and a 16-point fourth to end regulation all knotted at 58. The Mustangs outscored the Broncs 8-6 in the overtime period to take the win.

At Satanta, the visiting South Central Timberwolves defeated the Satanta Indians, 48-43, behind Koy Alexander’s game-high 15 points.

At the end of the first period, the score was tied at 10, then the Timberwolves pulled away to go into halftime up by seven, 25-18. The teams would both score nine points in the third period, before the Indians scored 16 points to the Wildcats’ 14 to bring the score deficit to five, but they were unable to pull off the comeback win.

Christ Gonzales was the only Indians player in double-digit scoring with 12 points.

At Rolla, the visiting Goodwell Eagles came away with a win against the Rolla Pirates, 66-32.

The Eagles were up on the pirates early, ending the first period with a lead of 14 points. The game was essentially put away by the end of the first half as the Eagles nearly gave a 30-point effort to close out the half while holding the Pirates to only four points.
