Three GC Boxing Club members win in Wichita

Three members of the Garden City Boxing Club competed and won their respective weight division titles on Saturday in Wichita at the Kansas Silver Gloves Championship.

Silver Gloves competition is only for boxers between the ages of 8 and 15 years. These three were the lone representatives from GCBC.

Noah Aldana won the 11-year-old, 75-pound title by beating Rogelio Tovar of Wichita by unanimous decision.

Elian Garcia captured the 14-year-old, 115-pound division with a third-round knockout of Vicente Jaurgeui of Wichita.

In the 15-year-old, 105-pound weight classes, Rafael Chavez took a unanimous decision to defeat Larry Triplet of Wichita.

The titles qualifies all three boxers to compete in the Regional Silver Gloves Championship on Jan. 23, 24 and 25, 2015, in Rock Island, Ill. Five states comprise the region, including Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and Missouri.

Qualifiers from the regionals will then advance to the National Silver Gloves Championship in Independence, Mo., slated for February of 2015.
