Thirty-two Garden City High School choir students performed at the southwest district concert in Dodge City on Dec. 6.

It was recently announced that the following GCHS students scored high enough to qualify for state: sopranos, Columba Martinez, senior, (second year at state) and Haley Mayfield, senior, (second year at state); altos, Baylee Almos, sophomore, Lexi Blackburn, junior, and Erica Ramos, sophomore; tenor, Michael Partridge, senior; bass, Dakota Brungardt, junior and Mario Ortega, senior, (second year at state).

Damian Perez, bass, junior and Rafael Diaz, tenor, junior were named alternates.

The top eight district singers from each section (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) will advance on to state.

They will rehearse in conjunction with the Kansas Music Educators Association Conference in February and perform in a concert on March 1, 2015.
