Johanna Jean Murry and James Ryan Cornett, both of Garden City, were married Oct. 9, 2010, at The Presbyterian Church in Garden City. The Rev. Denise Pass officiated the 5 p.m., double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of John and Wanda (Baier) Murry of Garden City. Her grandparents are Jean and Clair Murry of South Coffeyville, Okla.; and the late Val and Marcella Baier. Her great-grandparents are the late Earl and LaVerne Cook.

Parents of the groom are Jim and Judy (Pinegar) Cornett of Garden City. He is the grandson of the late James E. and Dixie Cornett; and the late James A. Pinegar.

Maid of honor was Kristina Murry, the bride's sister from Garden City. Bridesmaids were Rebecca Cornett, the groom's sister from Topeka; Renee Cornett-Wallace, the groom's sister from Garden City; Angie Relph of Garden City; Heather Wright-Renick of Cimarron; and Alicia Staats-Murry, the bride's sister-in-law from Garden City.

Best man was Brent Cornett, the groom's brother from Garden City. Groomsmen were Matt Lee, the groom's cousin from Garden City; Craig Nelson of Kansas City, Kan.; Chad Simmons of Memphis, Tenn.; Chance Cureton of Fayetteville, Ark.; and Chris Huber of Sioux City, Iowa.

Candlelighters were the groom's nieces, Cambry Cornett of Garden City, and Amaya Bishop of San Diego. Flower girl was Alainie Wittenauer, the bride's cousin from Sublette, Ill. Ringbearer was Ethan Wallace, the groom's nephew from Garden City.

Serving as ushers were Tim and Patrick Murry, the bride's brothers from Garden City; and David Baier, the bride's cousin from Waterville.

Linda Rishel, organist, and Annette Brungardt, soloist, provided music. Both are from Garden City. Selections included "There Is Love" "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring," "Feels Like Home," "Bridal March" and "Wedding March."

The reader was Amy Lofthouse, the bride's cousin from Rochelle, Ill. Programs were handed out by the bride's cousins, Connie Fickler of Wichita, and Jennifer Simmons of Hays. Guest book attendants were Holly Hererra of Garden City; and Jana Ohman, the bride's cousin from Ingalls.

The ceremony was followed by a reception, given by the couple's parents, at The Golf Club at Southwind, Garden City. Assistants were Jovita Baier and Betty Simmons, the bride's aunts from Holcomb; Jane Hanano, the groom's aunt from Waimea, Hawaii; and Ann Case, the groom's aunt from Garden City.

The bride graduated from Garden City High School in 2002 and from Garden City Community College in 2005 with an associates in nursing degree. She attends the University of Missouri-Kansas City, pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing, and is employed as a registered nurse in the emergency department at St. Catherine Hospital.

The groom graduated from Garden City High School in 1999 and from Kansas State University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in political science and Spanish. He is operations manager at Garden City Wholesale and is co-owner of Fulton Street Pub.

After a wedding trip to Sandals Resort of St. Lucia, the newlyweds are at home in Garden City.
