Raburn Avon Burnett, 87, of Lamar, Mo., and formerly of Garden City died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar.

He was born June 16, 1927, to Chester Marvin Burnett and Ruth Ann Elizabeth Bosarde in Jackson, Mo.

After high school, he served in the United States Navy. He was married to Vivian Irene Williams.

Mr. Burnett worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years, retiring in 1985.

Survivors include four sons, Kevin Burnett, of Reno, Nev., Jerry Duvall of Lamar, Gary Duvall of Foss, Okla., and Keith Duvall of Grove, Okla.; three daughters, Delores Dater of Lenexa, Beth King of Golden, Colo., and Patsy Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas; three brothers, Ted Burnett of South Carolina,, Bill of Burnett, Goshen, Ind., and Marvin Burnett, of Pineville, Mo.; one sister, Patricia Anderson of Blue Springs, Mo.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Carl and Euel Burnett; and three sisters, June Rose Burnett, Jean Scott and Helen Nabb.

Funeral service were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home, with Military Honors.

Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John.
