ULYSSES — Earl “Pete” McManaman, 86, of Ulysses, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

He was born April 24, 1928, in Dodge City, to Everett James “EJ” and Lucy Oller McManaman.

A former resident of Copeland and Montezuma, Mr. McManaman farmed with his father for many years. He continued farming while working as a supervisor for the Kansas Department of Transportation after 40 years of service. He also was an owner of a mobile home park for more than 45 years and transported vehicles for Riley Ford.

On June 10, 1944, he married Lois Simpson in Ulysses. She died in 2011. He also was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and six brothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Jane Vanderpool and Linda Wise, both of Ulysses; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses. Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorials are suggested to Grant County Senior Center or Pets Miracle Network and Sanctuary (a no-kill shelter), both in care of the funeral home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
