Orchestra and chili dinner fundraiser

There will be a chili dinner Monday evening to benefit the Garden city High School Orchestra Booser Club. The dinner is 3 to 5 p.m. Monday in the GCHS cafeteria, where the seventh - 12th grade orchestras will be performing throughout the evening.

Dinner is free, but donations are welcome. Gift baskets will be auctioned off and given away throughout the evening, and babysitting services will be provided. Proceeds will go toward getting the GCHS Orchestra Booster Club up and running. For more information, contact Summer Miller at 805-5521.

Blood drive is set for Monday

The Garden City Family YMCA and the American Red Cross will have a Blood Drive in the YMCA gymnasium from 3:45 to 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Lunch Boot Camp begins in March

Garden City Family YMCA's Lunch Boot Camp, which is offered monthly, kicks off in March with classes from noon to 12:45 p.m.Tuesday and Thursday. Cost is $30 for members and, $60 for program participants. For more information, call Sarah Tighe at 275-1199.

Bring on the Mardi Gras pancakes

The fifth annual Mardi Gras pancake celebration is set for Tuesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. The celebration will feature bingo at 4 p.m., pancake games at 5 p.m., and a pancake supper at 5:30 p.m. The menu will include pancakes, sausage gravy on biscuits, applesauce and King's Cake. Cost for the dinner is $7.

Survivors program begins Tuesdy

A free cancer survivors program is being offered by St. Catherine Hospital Tuesday through April 8. Going Forward: Life After Treatment is a free, six-week interactive televideo program to improve quality of life for cancer survivors. The sessions are from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at St. Catherine Hospital. Topics include: exercise and wellness; nutrition; emotional health; treatment after-effects; and social and spiritual support led by licensed psychologist, Dr. Susan Krigel.

The program is sponsored by Midwest Cancer Alliance, the outreach arm of The University of Kansas Cancer Center. To register, call 272-2360.

Gear up to get fit with TRX Training

"TRX Training," a class to help participants build lean muscle, boost metabolism, tighten their core and increase their endurance, will start Tuesday at the Garden City Family YMCA.

The four-week class will be taught by Melissa Fulton, a NETA certified instructor. Class will be from 5:45 to 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday, with another session offered in April. Class is limited to seven participants.
