Kids 4-H

The Kourageous Kids 4-H Club met Dec. 9 at the 4-H building following a shopping trip to select gifts for Salvation Army Christmas Angels.

Members gathered for a recreational activity involving speed gaming, followed by appetizers and a hot chocolate bar in celebration of Christmas. Roll call was answered with a Christmas wish. Nine members and five guests were present.

A brief business meeting was called to order by President Mary Lyn Buchele. She read communications regarding her recent trip to Nashville, Tenn., to attend the 4-H Congress.

The meeting was followed by a candy exchange.

The next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 11 at the 4-H building.

Senior center cards

John Bunnell won high in the three tables of senior center double pinochle played Monday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Second place went to Bob Ellis. Mary Joseph was third.

In the senior center pitch session on Tuesday, Ellis won high, Elvin Hazen took second and Vi Fry placed third.

Duplicate bridge

The Garden City Duplicate Bridge Club held a small Sunday game on Dec. 14, playing a 25-board Howell movement. It produced just 12 games and no slams. Roger and Donna Morris took first place over Helen Lee and Roberta Renick.

On Monday, a 28-board movement produced 24 games and a failed slam. Dorothy Bartlett and Irene Bryant ruled with a 73 percent game. Linda Adams and Lee tied with Jon Craig and Wen Wurst for second/third with 50 percent games.

Regular games begin at 7 p.m. Monday and 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., plus sanctioned games begin at 2 p.m. on the second, third and fourth Sundays, with all bridge players welcome. For partners, call Jon Kempton at 276-2876.
