SCOTT CITY — Eugene D. “Scrubby” Hutchins, 89, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.
He was born April 10, 1926, in Shields, to Clarence Thomas “Pete” and Mary Sharp Hutchins.
A Scott City resident since 1942, moving from Lane County, Mr. Hutchins was a farmer, stockman and antique dealer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
On June 1, 1950, he married Evelyn Irene Hopper in Dodge City. She died Nov. 21, 2012, in Scott City. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stan Hutchins; and two brothers.
Survivors include a son, Alan Hutchins of Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Dorsi Cupp of Dighton, and Julie Hutchins and Becky Hutchins, both of Scott City; a sister, Carol Auten of Scott City; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Scott City. Burial will be at Scott County Cemetery in Scott City.
Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City.
