KDHE updates isolation, quarantine guidelines

TOPEKA – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has updated the isolation and quarantine guidance following the recent changes by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for health care workers in a hospital setting and the general population. CDC is in the process of updating guidance for other settings such as correctional facilities, long-term care facilities, preschool, K-12 schools and institutions of higher education.

Telegram begins new publication era this week

It has been about three months since CherryRoad Media purchased the Garden City Telegram and I became its publisher. In those three months many people have been working hard to reimagine this newspaper as the leading source of local news for Garden City and Finney County. There have been many tasks that needed to be completed to successfully break away from the previous ownership group. Finally, this week we have reached the point where the Telegram is being prepared entirely by our own team. With this transition we will be implementing several changes.

WINTER IS HERE!

A Kansas Department of Transportation truck uses a snow plow on the front if it to push small drifts of snow off the US Highways 83/50 Bypass Saturday during a break in snowfall. The first snow storm of the season hit on New Year’s Day and dropped approximately two inches of snow on Garden City, but a gusty north wind kept wind chills below zero through early Sunday morning.
