A Syracuse man pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court in Wichita to a count of possessing child pornography depicted in photos and videos he got off the internet and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Wade H. Dewey, 48, a registered sex offender from Hamilton County, admitted that on Aug. 2, 2013, in Syracuse, he was found in possession of images and videos depicting child pornography.

According to the office of U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom, Dewey was previously convicted in 1999 in Pueblo, Colo., on a charge of criminal attempt to commit sexual assault on a child.

The conviction of Dewey was the culmination of the inter-agency work of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the Wichita Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
