After attending Lakin schools since kindergarten, Allie Jones recently graduated from Lakin High School with a 3.875 grade-point average that put her on the Principal's Honor Roll multiple times and earned her a KU Honor Student award. In a questionnaire provided to The Telegram, Jones wrote that she didn't particularly favor any one class over the other, nor did she strongly dislike any subjects.
"I enjoyed them all because of my classmates and teachers," she wrote. "I didn't enjoy any of the homework, but that's school."
Jones was an active member in several clubs at Lakin High School, including Student Council, Partners in Community Service and National Honor Society, as well as being on the school's volleyball, track and basketball teams.
She marks two moments as her most memorable of all throughout high school: medaling for the first time at a state-level track competition her sophomore year and winning the title of Homecoming Queen.
In addition to playing a variety of sports, Jones likes watching movies and spending time with people close to her.
"I love hanging out with my family and friends because around them I can be myself and just relax," she wrote.
Her experiences have helped inspire these words for incoming freshmen:
"Make sure you have a lot of fun. Friends come and go, but family will always be there."
And she added a warning to "stay out of the seniors' way!"
She plans to attend Wichita State University to major in nursing, and eventually hopes to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
Jones wishes her fellow graduates good luck in their future endeavors, and hopes they will have fond memories of her.
"I hope to be remembered as a fun classmate, one that always tried to say 'hey' to everyone, and one that anyone could come to for advice," she wrote.
