Healy graduating senior and Class of 2011 Salutatorian Angee LaToush moved to the Healy School district six years ago from Utica, the Ness County town where she attended grade school. In those six years, LaToush has certainly left her mark at Healy.
She was named to both the Bluejay Invitational All-Academic Team and the Western Kansas Liberty League All-League Academic Team. She also made Honor Roll and finished her high school career with a 3.81 grade-point average.
LaToush was a three-sport athlete, participating in volleyball, basketball and track.
She also was a member of Student Council and the Student Volunteer Organization.
While at Healy High School, LaToush said she found science to be her favorite subject because she thought it was interesting. History, math and English, however, she found to be boring.
LaToush likes sports, hanging out with friends and watching movies.
"I like doing these things because it is the only thing to do around here," LaToush wrote in a questionnaire provided to The Telegram.
She said her most memorable high school experience was the senior class trip to Hawaii.
To incoming freshmen, she has this piece of advice:
"Take it serious and don't mess around and not care because they will care when it is time to go off to college or whatever they want to do after high school," LaToush said.
She also wishes her fellow graduates good luck and said she hopes they will stay in touch.
LaToush is still weighing her post-graduation options and hopes to either attend Colby Community College and major in Early Childhood Education or attend Hays Academy of Hair Design and become a cosmetologist.
Whatever path she chooses, she said she hopes she is remembered as the girl that always made people laugh.
