Stanton Co. boys, Elkhart girls take 3rds at HPL tourney

Sublette 48, Pawnee Heights 34
The Sublette Lady Larks used big first and third quarters to hold off Hi-Plains League Tournament visitor Pawnee Heights 48-34 on Saturday to exit this year’s tournament with a win.
Riley Matteson led all players in the game for Sublette with 29 points.
Tristen Galliart led Pawnee Heights with 19 points followed by Rayna Karst with 12 points.

Lakin 68, Satanta 64
The Lakin Lady Broncs used the free throw line in the fourth quarter to hold off a stubborn Satanta team for a 68-64 win over the Lady Indians in the fifth-place game.
Amanda Richter led Lakin with 17 points followed by Darrie Rogers with 12. Lakin went 24-of-42 at the free throw line in the game but made 14-of-20 in the crucial fourth quarter.
Vanessa Caro and Kacey Smith led Satanta with 25 and 13 points respectively.

An 8-3 third quarter advantage was just the difference needed to help Elkhart squeeze past Southwestern Heights 45-42 for the Lady Wildcats to take third place.
Miranda Brewer led Elkhart with 17 points to lead all players in the game as Jentry Strothman also helped out the Lady Wildcats with 13 points.
Ivon Amparan and Nayelly LaPoint both led Heights with 13 and 12 points respectively.

The Southwestern Heights Mustangs scored double figures in each period to overpower Elkhart in the fifth-place game 76-50.
Ben Johnsrud led Heights with 20 points. Clayton Chase and Cody Jennings reached double figures for the Mustangs with 14 points each.
Alex Gomez led Elkhart with 22 points.

The Stanton County Trojans used big second and fourth quarters to claim third place over Cimarron 66-54.
Marques Logan led the Trojans with 25 points. Quinn Kendrick with 12 points, Jacob Cron with 11, and Colby Overturf with 10 provided balance for the Trojans.
Cimarron’s Christian Fischer also had a big game with 24 points in the Bluejay’s losing effort and Stewart Fairbank chipped in with 14 points.
