Daz Johnson recorded a monster double-double, with 18 points and 17 rebounds, to lead her Garden City Broncbusters to a 73-58 win over Northwest Kansas Tech on Saturday in Goodland.

The win improved the Busters to 10-9 overall and 5-5 in the KJCCC. Tech remained winless at 0-18 and 0-10.

Johnson has now recorded a double-double in three-straight games and six overall this season. She was helped by Alyssa Boyce’s 14 points and seven boards, while Jaleah Bellany scored 13 off the bench and Sarah Alsabbaheen had a season-high 11.

The Busters led 15-10 after the first quarter, 34-27 at half and 58-41 entering the fourth quarter, cruising to the win.

Through 10 of the 21 conference games on the schedule, the Busters sit in fifth of the nine-team West Division. They are a game behind fourth-place Pratt and 1 ½ games behind third-place Barton.

GCCC Men

After leading at half, 34-27, the Garden City Broncbusters lost hold of their advantage in the second half, losing to Northwest Kansas Tech, 72-64, on Saturday in Goodland.

The Mavericks shot 36 free throws, and made 31 of them to win their second conference game of the season, improving to 10-9 overall and 2-8 in the KJCCC West. The Busters drop to 8-11 overall and 3-7 in the conference.

The Busters hit just 38.3 percent of their shots (23 of 60), barely edging Tech’s 35.3 percent shooting (18 of 51). But Garden City got to the line just 20 times, and made just 11,

The loss to a struggling Tech team comes days after the Busters got their biggest win of their season, 70-69 over Hutchinson on Wednesday.
