The Garden City High School boys’ swimming team got a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke and went 3-4-5 in the 50-yard free en route to a third-place team finish in the Great Bend Invite Tuesday.

Aaron Schafer had the best individual finish for the Buffaloes, posting a time of 1 minute, 11.6 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing behind Hays’ Isaac Smith’s 1:08.77.

In the 50 free, Will Keller (24.95), Schafer (25.50) and Jeremiah Bruce (25.54) finished right in a row as the Buffs scored 275 team points.

The Buffs finished behind Great Bend’s 304 and Dodge City’s 289.

The relay teams all had solid performances, as well, taking a pair of fourths, a fifth, sixth and two sevenths across the three relay races.

The Buffs’ next action comes on Tuesday at Hutchinson.
