Ulysses 50, Cimarron 20

The Ulysses Tigers started off their 2018-19 campaign with a bang, throttling the Cimarron Bluejays, 50-20, Friday night in Ulysses.

The Tigers had seven players get on the score sheet, led by both senior forwards Madison Haney and Gina Ballesteros, who each had 13 points.

For the Bluejays, junior Clara Bartlett led the way for Cimarron with nine points. Three of the four quarters for the Bluejays were single digits quarters, and only the second quarter ended with double digit with 10.

Cimarron will not get ready to host the Bluejay Invitational Tournament which starts on Thursday, while the Tigers are set for the Blue and Red Classic, which also starts on Thursday.

Hodgeman County 42, Deerfield 13

Deerfield’s girls struggled out of the gate for the 2018-19 season, managing just 13 points in a 42-13 loss to Hodgeman County.

Ingalls 58, Moscow 24

Behind Ashlyn Cure’s 29 points, the Ingalls Bulldogs opened the 2018-19 season by defeating the Moscow Wildcats 58-24 Friday night in Ingalls.

Cure was joined by teammate Regan Ast in double digits, finishing with 13 points, nine of which came from behind the 3-point line.

It was tough sledding for the Wildcats as no player could get going, and were held to 24 points. No player finished in double digit scoring and no quarter saw double digit points as well.

The Bulldogs now will not travel to South Gray to take on the Rebels on December 11th, while the Wildcats will host the Rebels on Sunday at at Bluejay Invitational.

South Central 81, Satanta 25

The Satanta Indians lost their opening game of the season, falling to the South Central Timberwolves 81-26, Friday night in Satanta.

The Indians were held to no 3-pointers on Friday and only had one player break double-digit scoring. That was Lizete Olivas, who scored 11. South Central’s Bri Rutherford led all scorers with 31 points, all of which came from inside the arc.

The Indians will try to record their first victory of the season as they host the Sublette Larks on Monday.

Southwestern Heights 44, Lakin 29

The Lakin girls were held to only 29 points on Friday, as they lost to the Southwestern Heights Mustangs, 44-29, in Kismet.

Lakin seemed to be outnumbered from the beginning as only six Broncs got into the scorebook, and sophomore Jaya Esquibel was the only Bronc to reach double digits, with 13 points.

Leading all scorers was Melandi Pretorius with 17.

Lakin will now travel to Goodland and participate in the Cowboy Invitational tournament.
