Cimarron 52, Ellsworth 14

In the first round of the Class 2A playoffs, the Cimarron Bluejays jumped out to a 52-0 lead before giving up two meaningless fourth-quarter touchdowns to Ellsworth in a 52-14 rout on Friday night in Cimarron.

The ‘Jays got a pair of touchdown runs from Tate Seabolt — 1 yard and 18 yards — and quarterback Dylan Harrison ran for one and threw another in the blowout. Cimarron (8-1) led 30-0 at the half.

The Bluejays advance to host second-round matchup with Hoisington (7-2) on Nov. 2. Hoisington routed Sterling, 38-13, on Friday.

Meade 21, Syracuse 14

In the Class 1A state playoff opener, the host Syracuse Bulldogs could not hold on to a 14-7 halftime lead in a 21-14 loss to the Meade Buffaloes Friday.

Meade ran for 241 yards on 51 carries, while Syracuse was held to just 107 yards on 43 carries.

The Buffs (4-5) advance to take on Sedgwick (8-1) in the second round of the playoffs on Nov. 2, while Syracuse ends its season at 4-4.

Elkhart 70, Sublette 22

Elkhart rushed for 400 yards and eight touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 70-22 rout of Sublette on Friday evening to advance in the Class 1A state playoffs.

Elian Prieto led with 147 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just four carries, while quarterback Lane Whisennand had 70 yards on six carries. Chase O’Hair had 100 yards and three scores on nine carries, as Elkhart held a commanding 42-0 lead after the first quarter.

Elkhart (8-0) now hosts Inman (6-3) at 6 p.m. Friday in the second round of the playoffs.
