Wichita County 54, Wallace County 6

The Wichita County Indians had no trouble in defeating Wallace County, 54-6, in a game called at halftime Friday night.

The Indians scored three times in the first and and six more in the second.

Shelden Whalen scored three times and Kayde Rietzke twice.

Oakley 33, Syracuse 12

At Oakley, the hometown Plainsmen led 20-0 at halftime, en route to a 33-12 win over visiting Syracuse.

Payson Hawkins and Damian Ramirez scored touchdowns for the Bulldogs, both in the second half.

Hawkins had 46 yards on 11 carries and Reece Hart had 28 on eight carries.

Hawkins had one pass play of 54 yards to Ramirez, who finished with three catches for 71 yards.

Oakley had 330 yards on the ground and 65 in the air for 395 yards of offense, while Syracuse had 187 yards of offense.

Syracuse (1-1) will travel to Lakin Friday.

Lakin 40, Stanton County 14

Behind junior Kayden Christiansen’s four touchdown night, the Lakin Broncs (2-0) soundly defeated the Stanton County Spartans (1-1), 40-14, Friday night in Johnson City.

The Broncs scored first on a Juan Banuelos 1-yard touchdown run. After the successful two-point conversion, Lakin got off to a 8-0 lead. Stanton County responded with a 68 yard touchdown, to cut the lead 8-6.

After trading touchdowns to level the score at 14-14, Christiansen scored the first of his touchdowns on a 1-yard run to give Lakin a 20-14 lead. The Broncs then went on to score 26 unanswered points, all scored by Christiansen and sealing the win.

The Broncs will look to go 3-0 when they host the Syracuse Bulldogs in Lakin. Stanton County will look to bounce back when they travel to Cimarron to take on the Bluejays. Both kickoffs are scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Sublette Larks (0-2) are still in search of their first win this season, after dropping their second game of the season, 46-0, to the Ellinwood Eagles Friday night in Sublette.

The Larks will travel to Elkhart to take on the Wildcats next friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
