Garden City Community College and the Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce will kick off the 2018 Broncbusters football season with a “Business After Hours” tailgate event prior to Saturday’s 7 p.m. game vs. visiting Dodge City.

It’s the second consecutive year of the event, with this year’s featuring a free taco bar beginning at 5:30 p.m. outside of Broncbuster Stadium.

“We’ve given away so many tickets, at least 300 tickets, to the community to get into the game,” Chamber President Myca Bunch said Friday. “It’s going to be a great event.”

Bunch said the Chamber has given away all of the physical tickets allotted, but fans who still would like free tickets can email Chamber Vice President Rick Thomeczek at VP@gardencitychamber.net to also gain free admittance to the game.

Bunch said first and last names must be provided for each entrant.

“I think it’s one of those things, where any time you do anything at the college, we want to get as many community members at our events as possible,” GCCC interim athletic director Colin Lamb said Friday, the same day he was announced interim. “It was a good event last year, and we’d like to grow it this year.”
