The Garden City Community College volleyball team was swept in three of its four matches over the weekend at the New Mexico Military Institute Invitational. In the other match, the Broncbusters fell 3-1.

In the opening match of the weekend, on Friday, the Busters lost 25-10, 29-27, 25-13 to NJCAA third-ranked and host NMMI. Ashley Brown led Garden City with eight kills, while Katie McHugh had 18 assists.

In Friday’s second match, the Busters managed to win the opening set, 25-23, against South Mountain (Ariz.), but dropped the final three, 25-11, 25-17 and 25-15. This time, Kaylee Line led with eight kills, and Brown had seven.

To open Saturday, the Busters fell to Pima (Ariz.), 25-21, 25-16, 25-16. Brown again led the way in kills with seven, while McHugh had 14 assists and eight digs.

A 25-23, 25-12, 25-18 loss to Yavapai (Ariz.) closed out the Busters’ tournament. Brown had nine kills in that match, and Line had eight.
