Garden City Community College is searching for a new head track and field and cross country coach.

Doug Marshall submitted his resignation from both positions, announcing Saturday he had accepted the same post at Iowa Western Community College.

"It really came down to a family decision," Marshall said, according to a release from GCCC. "It was a matter of where my family would be the happiest. And Iowa Western is a great program."

Marshall had been the head coach at GCCC since Dec. 1, 2017, when he was promoted from assistant head coach after former head coach Ray Putnam resigned.

Marshall was at GCCC for four years, and had previously been an assistant coach at Garden City High School.
