The Garden City Wind are still searching for their first win.

Tuesday night’s 7-1 loss at Alpine, Texas, dropped the Wind to 0-6 to begin the 2018 season under first-year manager and player Ian Horne.

All six losses have been by more than four runs, with the Cowboys’ Seth Douglas responding to Daniel Barrett’s solo home run in the third with a two-run blast in the bottom half of the frame for a 2-1 lead.

From there, the Cowboys just added on, adding three in the fifth off Buster starter Troy Mannebach, who lasted six innings and gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks. He struck out eight, but took the loss.

Ely Gallego tossed a complete game, four-hitter for Alpine, walking three and striking out eight of his own.

Douglas ended up with three RBIs, and Gallego had two himself when he homered in the eighth.

Horne, who played right field and hit second, shortstop Nick King, catcher Ryan Faircloth and Barrett each had one hit for the Wind, who return to Alpine for the third and final game of the series.

Then, the Wind travel to Santa Fe and Roswell, N.M., before returning to Garden City on June 7.
