PREP BOYS

Moundridge Classic

Moundridge 55, Inman 48

MOUNDRIDGE — The Moundridge Wildcat boys’ bounced back from a buzzer-beater loss to Hillsboro by stopping rival Inman 55-48 Thursday at the Moundridge Classic.

Moundridge led 20-10 after the first quarter and 29-23 at the half. The Wildcats were able to hold off the Teutons in the fourth quarter.

“Rather win ugly than lose pretty,” Moundridge coach Vance Unrau said. “Inman junked us defensively and it disrupted some flow with the offense. We had looks with what we did but had a tough time making shots. I tell our guys that junk defenses show that they have high regard for certain players and the others are disrespected. Take it personally and knock down shots. I have the confidence that our guys can make those shots and they will. Peyton Fast did a great job on the glass for us tonight. Not a big guy but he had good position and went after the rebound. We have to do a better job of running clock late. Too many turnovers when pressured and we panicked a bit. We have played some meaningful early season games. That's how we learn and that's how we get better.”

Dillon Vogts led Moundridge with 24 points, followed by Noah Eichelberger with 15.

Peyton Fast had 11 rebounds and six assists.

Peyton Froese scored 33 points for Inman, 2-1.
