Roto-Mix Cattlemen's Steak Cookout
It starts at 11:30 a.m. near the Grandstand Plaza at the Finney County Fairgrounds. The Southwest Kansas Cattle Women serve the beef prepared by the cooks from Roto-Mix. The new Southwest Kansas Cattle Women cookbook also can be purchased. Proceeds help the Cattle Women provide college scholarships and promote education in several ways.
Friday, June 3
U.S. Premium Beef Dinner & Beef Empire Steer Trial Auction
The Clarion Inn Grand Ballroom is the venue. Happy hour starts at 6 p.m. Dinner is at 6:30, followed by the photograph auction of the steers at 7:30 p.m. Entertainment tops off the evening. The cost is $25 each.

Awards Banquet presented by Farm Credit of Southwest Kansas and Pfizer Animal Health
The Cargill Animal Nutrition social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Clarion's Grand Ballroom. The banquet of Kansas beef and succulent sides follows. Awards are next on the menu for the Live and Carcass Show, the Cattle Working Contest, Ranch Rodeo and the Mary M. Hopkins Award for Volunteer Service. Beef Empire Days scholarship winners will be recognized, and the Southwest Kansas Cattle Women will announce their scholarship winner. Cost $25.

Commerce Bank Chuckwagon Breakfast
It's in Stevens Park on Main Street in downtown Garden City, and it's all you can eat for $2 a head. Commerce Bank staffers start serving beef sausage and pancakes just after dawn, somewhere around 6:30 a.m. Chris Cakes of Louisburg flips batter and banter as he produces flapjacks. It's over at 9:30 a.m. Milk, courtesy of Plymell Dairy, is free. The coffee is next to the milk. Proceeds go to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
Chuckwagons in the Park Community Feed
After the parade, head to the chuck wagons circled up at Stevens Park, where the range cooks start serving samples of new cuts of beef at about 11:45 a.m. There is no charge, but trying enough samples might equal a free meal. The sponsors are First National Bank of Syracuse, Garden City and Johnson City; Beef Products Inc.; Clarion Inn/Samy's Spirits and Steakhouse; and Max Jantz Excavating.
Sunday, June 12
Cattle Crawl
Grab the stage coach, courtesy of Garden City Community College, at 4:30 p.m. for the Cattle Crawl. It leaves the parking lot at The Clarion Inn and rumbles through Las Margaritas, Napoli's Italian Restaurant, the Golf Club at Southwind and Samy's Spirits and Steakhouse at the Clarion, where participants enjoy samples of beef entrées at each local eatery. The night ends with music and dessert at Samy's.
