Former Sublette prep star and Kansas State All-American Shalee Lehning, playing in her third season with the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association, sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury and will miss the remainder of the 2011 season, according to a press release by the Dream.

MRI results revealed Wednesday that Lehning tore the ACL in her right knee. The injury occurred during the first quarter of the Dream's game against the Connecticut Sun on July 31. Lehning did not return to the game and did not dress for either of the team's two games last week. She is expected to undergo surgery later this month.

Lehning, a 5-9 guard, appeared in all 18 games for the Dream this season. She was averaging 12.1 minutes, 2.1 points and 2.3 assists per game. A second round draft pick in 2009, Lehning led the Dream to playoff appearances in her first two seasons in the league. She started 20-of-34 games as a rookie in 2009, finishing in the top 10 in assists. In 2010, Lehning started 33 games and ranked seventh in the league in assists per game, helping the Dream to the WNBA Finals.

Lehning, one of the all-time greats in Kansas girls prep basketball history, was on Telegram's All-Area team four consecutive years and led the Lady Larks to consecutive state championships in 2A with back-to-back 26-0 records in 2004-2005. She was voted Miss Kansas Basketball by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association in 2005.

Lehning also serves as an assistant coach on the staff at Kansas State University where she starred for the Lady Wildcats from 2005-2009.
