Rolla Showcase: Syracuse rolls, Elkhart boys earn rout

On the opening night of the 2013 Rolla Showcase, it was Elkhart, Stanton County, Beaver, Okla., and Syracuse posting victories in the boys side of the bracket.

Elkhart hit the century mark with a 101-75 victory over South Baca, Colo.; Stanton County edged Moscow 56-55; Beaver, Okla. ran past Greeley County 61-28 and Syracuse rolled over Rolla 61-23.

Those four teams will meet in today's semifinals with Elkhart and Stanton County meeting at 3:30 p.m. while Beaver and Syracuse face off at 6:30 p.m.

Syracuse 61, Rolla 23

The visiting Bulldogs led from start to finish over the host Pirates in securing their first win of the season. They led 16-6, 33-12 and 51-17 at the quarter stops.

Dexter English and Cameron Coleman paced the Bulldogs with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Elkhart 101, South Baca, Colo. 75

The Wildcats got three 20-plus point performances in their rout over South Baca.

Izzy Barco led the trio with 26 points while Brendan Carter followed with 23 and Juston Hurn tallied 20.

The Wildcats led 27-11, 46-30 and 73-53 at the quarter stops.

Alex Gomez nearly made it four as he finished with 19 points. South Baca got 23 points from Matthew Crane, 11 from Bryce Grahn and 10 from Bret Wilson.

Stanton Co. 56, Moscow 55

Stanton County rallied from a three-point deficit after three quarters to trip Moscow 56-55 in the opening round of the Rolla Showcase on Thursday.

Moscow had led 17-12 after one quarter and saw the lead trimmed to 31-30 at halftime. It was 46-43 with the Wildcats on top after three periods.

For the winning Trojans, Keifer Puyear led the way with 26 points and Jacob Cron added 14. Moscow'sattack was led by Matt Pearson with 21 points, Brice Valdez with 12 and Alex Manriquez with 10.

Girls

Syracuse 50, Elkhart 34

At Syracuse, the Lady Bulldogs were able to fend beat the Elkhart Lady Wildcats by a score of 50-14.

The Lady Bulldogs had a slim 26-18 lead at halftime, but with sound defense and a big fourth quarter they were able to pull away with the win.

Syracuse's Brown was the big scorer of the night with 13 points.

Beaver, Okla., 38, Moscow 36

At Moscow, the Lady Wildcats would cling on tightly to victory, but it would eventually fall from their grasp into the waiting lap of the Beaver, Oklahoma, Lady Dusters. The Lady Dusters would win 38-36. The Lady Dusters had, had a slim 17-15 lead going into halftime.

At Tribune, the Lady Jackrabbits couldn't hold bacck the offense of the Stanton Co., Lady Trojans as they won 53-21.

The Lady Trojans would more than double the score of the Lady Jackrabbits as at halftime it was Lady Trojans 32, Lady Jackrabbits 15. The leading scorere of the night was Stanton Co.,'s Black who had 21 points on the night.
