Sublette's thefts lift Larks past SWH

Published 9/5/2009

By The Telegram

At Kismet, Sublette's Larks, ranked No. 5 in The Telegram's preseason poll, lived up to its early expectations by rolling to a 26-6 season-opening victory Friday night between two Hi-Plains League rivals who compete in the two divisions of the league.

The Larks intercepted six Wes Winfrey passes, three each by Mason Hibbard and Brandon Stokes. Hibbard scored one touchdown on a long interception return.

"We played very well and our defense was really good tonight," Sublette coach Steve Simpson said. "We got up on them early and then played a little conservatively on offense in the second half."
