Dighton girls fall in Castle Rock semifinals

Dighton's Lady Hornets fell 64-56 on Friday to Hoxie in the semifinals of the Castle Rock Classic at Quinter.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 2-1 for the season and they will face Golden Plains on Saturday in the third-place game. Golden Plains lost to Ellis 60-37 in the other semifinal.
Hoxie led 18-11 after one quarter and was ahead 35-25 at halftime, but the Lady Hornets couldn't close the deficit in the final 16 minutes.
Kiara Budd led the Hornets with 14 points while Liz Heath added 12 and Shambrey Budd chipped in with 10.

Dighton's boys also lost their semifinal matchup with Hoxie by a 55-28 margin and was scheduled to play Rawlins County on Saturday for third place after Ellis came up with a 64-63 victory in the other semifinal on Friday.
