Hugoton stays perfect with 24-3 win

At Guymon, Okla., the Hugoton Eagles continued their winning ways, improving to 3-0, as they shut down Guymon 24-3.

Hugoton scored two touchdowns in both the first and third quarters while holding Guymon to just a field goal in the third to get the win.

Caleb Gifford ran for two scores and Zach Dunlap ran and threw for the other two to account for the Eagles scoring.

Gifford carried the ball 36 times for 189 yards.

Hugoton amassed 353 yards rushing and 71 passing, while their defense held Guymon to minus-12 yards rushing and 122 passing yards.

At Lakin, the hometown Broncs defeated the Syracuse Bulldogs 35-13 on Friday to make for a successful homecoming.

Quarterback Dylan Shalberg led the Broncs, completing 6-of-11 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Evan Holmes had 12 carries for 107 yards rushing. Zach Reed had four catches for 118 yards for Lakin.

At Ashland, the Deerfield Spartans met up with the Argonia Red Raiders on a neutral field. Deerfield fell just short, losing 32-28.

Deerfield took charge in the first quarter, going up 22-8, but Argonia closed the gap to 22-20 at halftime. Deerfield managed only one touchdown in the second half.

Cris Martinez had two rushing touchdowns for Deerfield, while Ivan Robles had 151 yards rushing and one touchdown.

Garrison Hendricks led South Gray with 87 yards rushing and and 103 yards passing. Storm Mosher caught two passes for 69 yards for the Rebels.
