By The Telegram

Jacob Cron scored 21 points and the Stanton County Trojan boys led from start to finish for a 60-32 victory on Monday in a Class 2A sub-state first-round game at Johnson.

Cron led a long-range barrage with a pair of 3-point baskets while his teammates added five more as they improved to 16-4. The win advances them to Thursday's semifinal at Elkhart against the winner of today's South Gray-Hodgeman County game which will be played at Sublette.

All the remaining seven girls and boys games will be played at Sublette after Monday's schedule was postponed by the winter storm that hit some areas of southwest and south central Kansas.

Cron scored 9 of his points in the first quarter as the Trojans opened with a 14-7 lead. They were in front 22-16 at halftime and then broke the game open with a 22-3 spree in the third quarter.

For Wichita County (9-12), Jantz Budde and Bryce Nickelson were high scorers with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Boys semifinal games will be played Thursday and girls semis on Friday.
