Satanta edges Sublette in last-second brawl; Cimarron, Hugton run away late

Scott City 53, Ulysses 32
Trey O’Neil scored 26 points, including hitting three 3-pointers, to power the Scott City Beavers boys to a 53-32 Great West Activities Conference victory on Friday night in Ulysses.
The Beavers, the three-time defending champions in Class 3A who have now moved into Class 4A-II, opened up a 24-10 lead after the first quarter and were comfortably ahead at halftime, 35-17. It was 45-26 after three quarters.
Brett Meyer added 11 points for the Beavers, who also had a pair of treys from Chantz Yager and Dylan Hutchins. Ulysses got 13 points from Tregg Rodriguez and 10 points from Nathan Medina. Rodriguez had three treys in his total.
Scott City heads into the holiday break with a 3-1 overall record and 1-0 in the GWAC while Ulysses is 3-2 and 0-1.

Cimarron 65, Elkhart 56

At Cimarron, the Bluejays defeated the Elkhart Wildcats 65-56 in Hi-Plains League action.

The Wildcats kept themselves in the game by staying within five points at the end of the second quarter but experienced a lapse in focus after the half and dropped behind Cimarron by four more points.

Elkhart's fourth quarter efforts to win the game were in vain as they only scored enough to match the Bluejays' 20-point fourth quarter.

Leading scorer for Cimarron was Ty Clark with 25, followed by Caleb Fischer with 13.

Satanta 63, Sublette 62

At Satanta, the Indians were able to pull off a nail-biting win against the Sublette Larks, 63-62, in Hi-Plains League action.

Satanta led at halftime 25-19, but Sublette tied it up with a 23-17 third period.

Despite having three of the game's top four scorers, including Trevor Leverett who scored five of the Larks' nine 3-pointers, Sublette was not able to seal the deal against their foe.

Andrew Lower led Sublette with 18 points, followd by Leverett with 17. Satanta's leading scorer was Tristan Colantonio with 22.

At Hugoton, it was a bird-on-bird fight to the finish as the Hugoton Eagles defeated the Colby Eagles by 14 points, 67-53, in Great West Activities Conference action.

Colby kept the game within their grasp until the third quarter, when they allowed Hugoton to fly away 14-9 in the quarter. Hugoton scored 39 points to Colby's 27 in the second half.

The game's biggest scorer by a margin of seven points was Cameron Brown of Colby, who dropped in 21.

Parker Titus led Hugoton with 14.
