Dighton girls roll; Sublette, Deerfield fall; South Gray beats Satanta

Dighton 48, WaKeeney 22

At Dighton, the Lady Hornets had little trouble against visiting WaKeeney as they cruised to a 48-22 win over the Lady Golden Eagles on Friday evening.

Shambrey Budd and Leslie Speer led Dighton with 17 points each. Liz Heath also had double figures with 10 points for the Lady Hornets.

Bailee Fritts led WaKeeney with eight points. Dighton led WaKeeney 30-12 at halftime.

Kinsley 52, Sublette 35

At Sublette, Kinsley's Shaylee Meyers and Brittney Gleason scored 22 and 18 points, respectively, to pace the visiting Lady Coyotes to victory over Sublette 52-35 on Friday.

Riley Matteson led Sublette with 14 points while Brooke Briggs scored all of her nine points from three point range.

The Lady Larks trailed 9-7, 22-10 and 40-24 at the quarter stops.

At Deerfield, the Lady Spartans had trouble scoring as Hodgeman County doubled them up 47-23 on Friday.

Shania Liggett and Hannah McPike led Hodgeman County with 14 and 10 points respectively as the Lady Longhorns led 26-13 at the half.

Hailey Novack led Deerfield with seven points.

Elkhart 42

At Meade, the Lady Buffaloes used a 20-point fourth quarter to break away from a tight game for a 53-42 win over Elkhart on Friday.

Kinzie Friesen led Meade with 15 points, and Bailey Olvera followed with 11. Hannah Miller added 10 points for the Lady Buffaloes.

Victoria Fullerton was the only Elkhart player in double figures with 15 points. Elkhart trailed by just four points at the end of the third quarter.

At Montezuma, the South Gray girls opened their season with a 58-39 win against visiting Satanta.

Dusty Watkins had 22 points to lead all scorers as she led the Lady Rebels to the win.

Kacey Smith had 13 points in the losing effort.

At Johnson City, the Lady Trojans used a balanced scoring effort to pull away from Greeley County early for a 59-36 Stanton County win on Friday.

Rakel Moore and Jenna Black both led Stanton County with 12 points each as eight other players scored for the Lady Trojans in the game.

Monica Veleta led Greeley County with 11 points.

At Rolla, the Lady Pirates had trouble containing Goodwell's Shambri Kelso and her 40-point performance as Rolla fell to the visiting Eagles 63-44 on Friday.

Kelso had 18 of her 40 points from 3-point range. Abbie Gardner also helped out Goodwell with 19 points of her own.

Rolla's Katy Howe and Kaleigh Barrett were in double figures with 13 and 12 points respectively.

Goodwell scored 27 points in the third quarter to pull away from Rolla.
