Lady Eagles, SW Heights boys get semifinal wins in Blue & Red

Semifinals

Hugoton 64,

Stratford, Texas 28

The Lady Eagles had little trouble containing Stratford on Friday afternoon, as Hugoton cruised to a 64-28 win to to its own Blue and Red Classic championship game.

Nicole Kinser led Hugoton with 17 points while Ana Pena added 12 points and Rylie Sosa 10.

Bethany Everett led Stratford with 17 points. Stratford was held scoreless in the second quarter and was outscored 39-17 in the second half.

Hugoton will face Perryton, Texas in the Blue & Red Classic championship game today at 6:30 p.m.

Consolation Semifinals

SW Heights 47,

Ulysses 44

The Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs survived a shaky second half and squeaked by Ulysses 47-44 on Friday in a consolation semifinal game.

Nayelly LaPoint led Heights with 19 points while Jackie Loya added in 11 for the Lady Mustangs, who trailed by one point after the third quarter.

Amanda Langley and Morgan Price led Ulysses with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

SW Heights will face Lakin for the second time this season today at 8 p.m. in the consolation championship game. Ulysses will face Guymon, Okla. today at 4:30 p.m. in the seventh-place game.

The Lakin Lady Broncs also survived a shaky second half and managed to hold off Guymon at the end, as Lakin gets its first victory of the season, a 45-40 win in a Blue and Red consolation semifinal game.

Darrie Rogers led Lakin with 16 points, and Lakin led by 13 points at halftime, but was outscored 16-7 in the fourth quarter.

Ashlyn Wadley led Guymon with 16 points.

Lakin will face SW Heights today at 8 p.m. for the consolation championship in a rematch from the season opener. Guymon will face Ulysses at 4:30 p.m. today in the seventh-place game.

Lakin 43

The SW Heights Mustangs squeaked by Lakin 44-43 on Friday in a Blue and Red Classic game that had the Mustangs leading by seven at the half.

Clayton Chase led Heights with 15 points, and Ben Johnsrud scored 12.

Dallas Franco led Lakin with 13 points as Lakin fell just shy of a late-game comeback on the night.

SW Heights advances to the championship game against Hooker, Okla. today at 8:15 p.m., while Lakin will settle for the third-place match against Perryton, Texas today at 4:45 p.m.

The Ulysses Tigers outscored Hugoton 36-15 in the first half and cruised to a 65-43 victory over the Eagles on Friday in a Blue and Red Classic consolation game.

Nathan Medina led Ulysses with 18 points as the only player in double figures in the game.

Jeison Rodriguez led Hugoton with nine points.

Ulysses will face Guymon, Okla. today at 6:15 p.m. for the consolation championship.
