Hi-Plains roundup: Stanton Co. thumps Indians; Meade wins big over Lakin, 63-14

Stanton County 55, Wichita County 6

At Leoti, the visiting Trojans started slowly but then turned up the offense on their way to a 55-6 win at Wichita County Friday night.

Quinn Kendrick led the Trojans in an impressive Stanton County offense with 128 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Marques Logan and Adrian Gum also had two touchdowns each.

Jantz Budde led Wichita County with 178 passing yards and a touchdown. Budde also had 54 rushing yards in the Indian's loss.

Stanton County is now 2-0 on the season while Wichita County falls to 0-2.

Meade 63, Lakin 14

At Meade, the Buffaloes jumped out to a 35-0 lead after the first quarter and shut down Lakin's offense in a 63-14 rout of the Broncs on Friday.

Trevin Wiens led Meade's offense as he rushed for 96 yards and three touchdowns. Wiens also returned two pass interceptions for touchdowns. Jett Little and Nick Finke also had a rushing touchdown each in Meade's win.

Ty Adams and Gage McAtee both scored for Lakin late with a touchdown each in the fourth quarter.

Both Lakin and Meade are now 1-1 for the season.

At Kismet, the visiting Wildcats held off the Mustang offense most of the game to come away with a 17-6 victory on the road Friday night at Southwestern Heights.

Elkhart's Alex Gomez passed for 114 yards and one touchdown to lead the Wildcats in their win. A.J. McKinley passed for similar numbers with 106 yards and one touchdown for Elkhart as well.

Ben Johnsrud scored Heights' only points on a two-yard run in the first quarter. Ivan Chavez also had a big night rushing for the Mustangs as he rushed for 109 yards in Heights' loss.
