Sublette, Lakin, Syracuse girls snare HPL wins

Sublette 51,

Elkhart 44

At Sublette, the Lady Larks used a 17-6 third quarter advantage to pull ahead of Elkhart before holding them off in the fourth quarter for a 51-44 Sublette victory on Tuesday.

Riley Matteson had another big night for Sublette with 24 points including a 10-of-16 performance at the free throw line. Brooke Briggs was also in double figures for Sublette with 14 points.

Dannah White and Miranda Brewer led Elkhart with 18 and 15 points, respectively. The Lady Wildcats only trailed by three points at halftime.

Lakin 62,

Wichita County 53

At Lakin, a big second half allowed the Lady Broncs to escape Wichita County for a 62-53 victory on Tuesday after trailing the Lady Indians by three points at halftime.

Karlee Davidson led Lakin with 15 points. Darrie Rogers and Kara Simmons also were in double figures with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Lakin outscored Wichita County 39-27 in the second half to get the comeback victory.

Tailar Bremer led all players in the game for Wichita County with 24 points with Nicole Huber and Katie Bailey each chipped in 11 points.

Ulysses 46

At Ulysses, a big second quarter and a 10-8 fourth quarter was all that Liberal needed to edge out Ulysses 49-46 on Tuesday.

Jai Chapman led Liberal with 27 points with Megan Besecker adding 10 points as Liberal trailed Ulysses 19-11 after the first quarter before taking a 27-26 lead at halftime.

Carolina Gallegos led Ulysses with 19 points while Amanda Langley chipped in 12 points in the loss. The two combined for all three of the Tigers' 3-pointers, with Gallegos hitting two.

Stanton County 17

At Syracuse, the Lady Bulldogs outscored Stanton County in each quarter and came away with a 32-17 win over the Lady Trojans on Tuesday.

Kiah Rash led all players in the game for Syracuse with 17 points in a low scoring game.

Rakel Moore led Stanton County with six points, as the Lady Trojans were held to seven points in the first half, including just two in the second quarter.
