GWAC: Great Bend beats Ulysses, 28-20

Bryce Beck threw for a touchdown and ran for two more, including the winning score in the fourth quarter Friday night as the visiting Great Bend Panthers defeated Ulysses, 28-20.
Beck scored on a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter, and Josh Lopez ran in the two-point conversion as the Panthers broke a 20-20 tie late.
Beck's 9-yard touchdown pass to Matt Marshall gave the Panthers (2-0) a 7-3 lead after one quarter, after Ulysses (1-1) opened the scoring with a 21-yard field by Jorge Mendez.
The Tigers regained a 10-7 lead in the second quarter on a 34-yard touchdown pass from Alec Meirhoff to Tate Annis, only to see Beck respond with a 7-yard touchdown run to put the Panthers back up 13-10.
A 19-yard field goal by Mendez tied the game at 13 at the half.
Great Bend took a 20-13 lead on a 5-yard run by Josh Lopez, and then Ulysses tied it back up on a 71-yard score by Ian Rudzik.
Rudzik rushed for 137 yards on 15 carries as the Tigers had 222 yards rushing as a team. The Panthers rushed for 230 yards and added 97 through the air.
