Seniors Jacob Thomas and Jalen Rowland also qualified for the Buffs' boys squad with 7th and 11th place finishes, respectively. The GCHS boys team, though, placed fourth with 89 points while Dodge City (39), Wichita South (79) and Derby (80) took the team qualifying spots.

Thomas had a time of 17:15 for the 5-kilometer race while Rowland was timed in 17:22.

The remaining boys performances included Cody Nagel in 17th (17:42), Aaron Peters in 25th (17:55), Chris Resley 29th (18:13), Brett Cady 33rd (18:27) and Heath Winkelman 41st (18:54).

"We're certainly happy how well the girls ran," GCHS coach Krista Linenberger said. "They've just continued to work hard, run well, and we're looking forward to running at state. "
