Cimarron girls defend own title; Meade boys roll by Bluejays

Cimarron 58, Bucklin 55

After leading by six at halftime, the Lady Bluejays had to overcome a 35-point performance by Bucklin's Morgan Hood to stay ahead of the Lady Aces in order to pull off the narrow triumph.

Ashtynn Burns and Morgan Ediger led Cimarron's winning effort with 18 points each. Eva Koopman added 10 points. Hood was the lone double-figure scorer for the Lady Aces.

Meade 48, Sublette 25

The Sublette Lady Larks were held to single digit scoring for each quarter as Meade had little trouble going to the basket in its 48-25 win over the Lady Larks in the third-place girls game.

Kinzie Friesen led a balanced scoring effort for Meade with nine points. Bailey Olvera added eight points while Hannah Miller and Tarah Wiens both chipped in seven points.

Riley Matteson and Brooke Briggs led Sublette with seven points each.

Satanta 65, Wichita County 37

Satanta held Wichita County to single digits in the last three quarters as the Lady Indians shook off a tense first quarter and took the fifth-place game.

Freshman Valerie Caro led Satanta with 17 points. Kacey Smith also scored in double figures with 16 points as Satanta led 29-20 at halftime and 49-28 after three quarters.

Tailar Bremer paced Wichita County with 11 points while Nicole Huber and Katie Bailey each added 10 points.

South Gray 41, Deerfield 27

South Gray used a 25-12 second half advantage to seal a 41-27 Lady Rebels' win over Deerfield in the seventh-place game Saturday afternoon.

Myranda Axtell and Whitney Wright led South Gray with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Mollie Calderon led Deerfield with 15 points.

Meade 68, Cimarron 50

A 19-6 second quarter and 19-13 third quarter made the difference in Meade's win over Cimarron.

Meade also captured the 2011 Bluejay Invite.

Meade had a balanced scoring effort in the game. Morgan Davis led the Buffaloes with 13 points. Jett Little and Randy Friesen were not far behind with 12 points while Chris Hardaway added 11.

Christian Fischer led Cimarron with 16 points while Caleb Fischer and Ted Boersma both scored 12 points.

South Gray 58, Satanta 21

The South Gray Rebels took control early and allowed Satanta little opportunity to score as South Gray took the third- place match with a 58-21 commanding win against the Indians.

Carson Skidmore led South Gray with 17 points. Gabriel Loya and Gage Foskuhl added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

James Turpin and Garrett Miller led Satanta with six points each.

The Sublette Larks used big first and third quarters to overcome Wichita County with a 53-34 win in the fifth-place game.

Taylor Williamson led Sublette with 14 points. Nathan Cearley added in 12 points and Trevor Leverett had 11 points.

Jantz Budde and Neil Fletcher led Wichita County with 12 points each.

Deerfield scored in double figures the first three quarters and coasted to a 53-36 win over Bucklin in the seventh-place game.

Alex Mata and Mike Mata led Deerfield with 17 points each as the Spartans were in front 35-22 at halftime and 52-27 after three quarters.

Anthony Ledesma led Bucklin with 18 points.
