Area Girls: Moscow beats Deerfield; Lakin pulls off upset of Meade

At Deerfield, the visiting Lady Wildcats outscored Deerfield 36-9 in the first half and coasted to a 52-32 win over the Lady Spartans on Friday.
Kendra Haines led Moscow with 18 points, and eight other Moscow players scored in the game.
Mollie Calderon led Deerfield with 17 points.

Leslie Speer led winning Dighton with 19 points. Shambrey Budd and Liz Heath were also in double figures for Dighton with 11 points each.
Rachael Kuhlman and Ally Dewees led Wallace County with 17 and 10 points, respectively.

At Lakin, with Meade’s Tarah Wiens, Kinzie Friesen, and Hope Harshberger all at home due to sickness, the Lakin Broncs took advantage of Meade’s absences and pulled off a 46-45 upset win over the Lady Buffaloes on Friday.
Mariah Watkins led Lakin with 13 points. Amanda Richter also managed to score in double figures for Lakin with 10 points.
Meade freshman Natalie Thompson led the Lady Buffaloes with 18 points. Mackenzie Moshier also had 11 points for Meade, as tough second and third quarters would prove costly to the Lady Buffaloes at the end.

Tiana Couch and Jackie Loya led Southwestern Heights with 13 points each. Nayelly LaPoint was also in double figures for the Lady Mustangs with 12 points.
Kassie Baeza led Syracuse with 10 points.

Miki Dorshorst led Oberlin with 15 points. Hannah May was also in double figures for the Lady Red Devils with 14 points while Demi Murray added 11 points.
Katie Bailey led Wichita County with 17 points. Tailar Bremer and Kaina Mancillas were also in double figures for Wichita County with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Wichita County and Oberlin were tied 30-all at halftime.
