Hornets, Jackrabbits advance at NWKL tourney

Dighton 53,

St. Francis 43

Top-seeded Dighton outscored St. Francis in every quarter to slowly pull away for a 53-43 win on Tuesday in the first full day of the Northwest Kansas League tournament at Leoti.

Isaac Alinor led Dighton with 17 points, followed by Matthew Mulville with 13 and Ryan Kuhlman with 12.

Mason Schlitz led St. Francis with 15 points, with Steven Nelson adding 10 points.

Dighton moves on to the tournament semifinals to face Hoxie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Greeley County 48, Wichita County 36

The Greeley County Jackrabbits outscored Wichita County 24-9 in the second half to overcome the Indians and post a 48-36 victory on Tuesday in a Northwest Kansas League quarterfinal contest.

AJ Govert led Greeley County with 13 points while Martin Veleta and Miguel Trejo each added 11 points.

Jantz Budde led Wichita County with 12 points.

Greeley County moves on to face Oberlin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday back at Wichita County while host team Wichita County will face Oakley at 4:30 p.m., also on Friday.

At Ingalls, the visiting Mavericks held the Bulldogs scoreless in the first quarter and allowed few opportunities to score from there for a 66-34 victory on Tuesday.

Rustin Ardery led Kiowa County with 21 points. Corbin VandenHoek and Damien Odle also had 12 points each.

Nathan Hale led Ingalls with 18 points.

At Montezuma, the Rebels outscored Hodgeman County 43-22 in the second half to rally for a 62-45 triumph on Tuesday after trailing by four points at halftime.

Trenton Holloway led South Gray with 21 points, followed by Carson Skidmore with 17 points.

Austin Pfannenstiel and Jared Borger led Hodgeman County with 10 points each.
