8-man: Ingalls trips Moscow; Deerfield dropped

Ingalls 20, Moscow 12

At Ingalls, the hometown Bulldogs held on to beat Moscow 20-12 in league play.

Down 6-0 after the first quarter, Zeke Cox scored on a 2-yard run and Josh Irsik from 23 yards out to take the lead. Branson Sandoval scored from 18 yards in the third.

Alexis Manriquez got the Wildcats on the board first with a 4-yard run. Brice Valdez caught a 47-yard pass in the fourth quarter.

Irsik led all runners with 119 yards, and Sandoval added 101.

Minneola 54, Deerfield 28

At Deerfield, the visiting Minneola Wildcats shook up a 22-all halftime tie by outscoring the Spartans 32-6 in the second half to pull away for a 54-28 win on Friday to start district play in 8-man football.

Minneola used 466 team rushing yards on the night to help get by the Spartans for the second half run and eventual win.

Rene Rubio and Mike Mata each rushed for a touchdown as Rubio also received a touchdown to allow Deerfield to come back and tie the game at the half. Mike Mata had another rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, this time from 41 yards out before their loss.

Deerfield hosts surging Spearville this coming Friday, also in district play.

Fowler 42, Rolla 36

At Rolla, in a key district matchup, the Fowler Goldbugs stopped a late Rolla drive to escape with a 42-36 win over the Pirates on Friday in a close game throughout and give Rolla their first loss of the year.

Luke Huelskamp rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Goldbugs on the ground with Taylin Bird also coming through with two passing touchdowns as Bird added a rushing touchdown to lead the Goldbugs with his rushing touchdown coming with just six seconds left in the second quarter to take the lead for good.

Rolla's Kyler Telford had rushing touchdowns of 51, 75, and 40 yards, respectively. Jaron Rusch had both a passing and rushing touchdown for Rolla as well as the Pirates had an excellent punt return with less than two minutes left in the game, only to fumble away the ball inside Fowler territory a few plays later.

Rolla will host Ashland next week while Ingalls will travel to Fowler as they get deeper into district play.

South Gray 62, Satanta 14

At Montezuma, the Rebels got a good start in district play on Friday as they easily slipped past Satanta with a 62-14 win.

South Gray had 388 rushing yards and 119 passing yards in the game. Ryan Griebel and Henry Friesen both led South Gray's running game with three touchdowns apiece for 161 and 105 yards respectively. Jason Guenther also had a rushing touchdown to go along with his 105-yard rushing performance. Richard Racy would also not disappoint at quarterback for South Gray as he passed for 119 yards and two touchdowns to cap off the Rebels team effort.

Satanta had a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown by Kyle Abernathy in the third quarter before the game was called via the 45-point rule.
