11-man: Meade, Ulysses win big

Meade 73, Sublette 30

At Meade, in the last week before playoffs, the host Buffaloes made a statement at home against the visiting Sublette Larks, winning 73-30.

Meade started off the scoring early when quarterback Jhett Little ran the ball in from 4 yards out. From there on out it would be Meade scoring all the points until the Larks finally got on the board with 10 seconds left in the first half on a 10-yard pass from Nathan Cearley to Obed Meraz. Meade would go into halftime up 49-8 before coasting to the win.

The Buffaloes ran for eight touchdowns on the ground with a total of eight different players scoring TDs.

Oberlin 62, Wichita County 14

At Leoti, the Wichita County Indians just couldnt' get it started at home as they were routed by the visiting Oberlin Red Devils by a score of 62-14.

It was all Red Devils as they would score four touchdowns in each of the first two quarters of play. All of the Red Devils touchdowns would come on the ground with the shortest coming from 1 yard out, and the longest being a 64-yard scamper to open up the scoring in the first quarter.

The Indians would finally get on the board in the thrid quarter on a Colton Northrup 49-yard run.

Ulysses 48, Hugoton 16

At Hugoton, the Eagles offense stalled until the second half, but by then it was too late to stage a comeback against the Ulysses Tigers, who would go on to win 48-16.

The Eagles weren't able to dig themselves out of a 42-0 halftime deficit at home. Ian Rudzik of Ulysses would rush for three touchdowns on the ground with all of them in the first half of play.

It was a ground game all night for both teams as both quarterbacks attempted just 10 passes with only five completions between both teams. Hugoton would get on the board late in the third quarter on a 14-yard run by Yates Sutton.

At Plains, the Broncs held homefield advantage, and they used that to their benefit as they beat the Southwestern Heights Mustangs 48-7.

The Broncs would score the first three touchdowns of the game before the Mustangs got on the board late with a touchdown catch by B. Kisner of 62 yards.

That would be the only score of the night for the Mustangs as it was all Bronc touchdowns from there on out. Gage McAtee scored three touchdowns — two running (10 and 6 yards) and one receiving (13 yards) — on the night.

He ran for 208 yards on only 15 carries, leading the Broncs to 315 yards on the ground. Caleb Seager only threw the ball eight times, but was efficient in his passes, completing five for 98 yards and three TDs.
